Arrival in Budapest by Air

Ferihegy airport is 20 km (15 miles) to the south-east of Budapest. There are 2 modern terminals next to each other. Ferihegy1 is the smaller one mostly for budget airlines, and Ferihegy 2 is the bigger terminal for all other airlines.

How to get to the town:

Airport Minibus from Ferihegy Aiports

Airport Minibus service: (+36-1) 296-8555, open 5am -10pm or until the last flight. English spoken. It will take you to any address within the city limits. Buy a ticket at the counter in the arrivals hall, tell staff where you are going then wait for a driver to tell your destination after they have planned their route. This can take 5 minutes but even 30. To be picked up in town and taken to either terminal, phone a day in advance. Accessible for wheelchair users.

Public transport from Ferihegy Aiports

This is one the cheapest options. Exiting the airport find the bus stop that says BKV Plusz Reptér busz or Bus No.200. The bus goes to Kobánya-Kispest metro station (last stop on the blue line). Last buses from the airport are at 11,30pm. Last metro leaves at 11,10pm but there's a night bus from the station to the town. Price: 270 HUF/ticket

Taxis from the airport

A taxi ride to the center should cost about 5000 HUF. Before getting in please ask the driver about the price.

Train from/to Nyugati Palyaudvar from Ferihegy 1 Aiport only

This is the cheapest option to get into the city. Trains are coming frequently (approx. every 10-15 minutes during peak hours and every 25-50 minutes off peak hours) Single ticket cost 300 HUF.

Train

The city has 3 main stations all with metro stops with the same name. Keleti station serves most trains to and from abroad. All 3 stations have exchange and tourist information facilities but only Keleti and Nyugati have 24-hour left-luggage facilities.

Bus

If arriving by bus, most probably you will be dropped at Népliget bus station. There are exchange and left luggage facilities there. Népliget coach station: information centre 219-8080. From Népliget you can reach the town by M3 (the blue metro line).

Boat

Vigado Ter international boat station is in the heart of the town.
